Carrie Mae Rose is an American fine artist known for her sculpture, installation, print, and performance work. Her practice integrates meditation-based visioning with exploration of the tensions between vulnerability and violence, purity and power, and reverence and rage. She translates these inquiries into artwork that invites viewers to interact with her works as portals into the archetypal imagination where sacred geometry, mathematics and proportional harmonies underlie all physical and non-physical forms. Drawing on the traditions of Thangka paintings, yantras, and divine weapons, Rose reimagines universal mythological symbols as visual tools for protection, transformation and ascension. Rose's work seeks to create a new culture of feminine wisdom where each person feels safe enough to feel beautiful.
